The First GCC beach football championship will kick off on March 4 in Dubai. The event sees the participation of the six GCC countries; Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the hosts UAE.
Details of the event were announced at a press conference held at the Dubai Police Officer’s Club with the attendance of Khalid Ismail, the head of organizing committee, Abdullah Khamis, tournament manager sponsors and members of the organizing committee.
The tournament will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Club.
The tournament will be held at the Al Mamzar beach in Dubai from March 4-9. Each team will field five players (one being a goalkeeper), but has to register 10 players.
The match will last three sessions with each session being 10 minutes with a three-minute break. The winner gets three points. In the event of a tie, a three minute extra will be played followed by Golden Goal.
