The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of Qatar has launched the Digital Agenda 2030, representing Qatar’s commitment to fostering a prosperous digital future and achieving ambitious goals in the ICT sector.

HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai said that the digital agenda outlines the implementation of Qatar’s 3rd National Development Strategy, aiming to make Qatar a smart and technologically advanced country.

The Digital Agenda 2030 is built upon six strategic pillars: Digital Infrastructure, Digital Government, Digital Technologies, Digital Innovation, Digital Economy, and Digital Society. These pillars serve as the guiding framework for Qatar’s digital future and global digital competitiveness.

The anticipated outcomes from the effective implementation of the Digital Agenda’s six pillars include enhancing the effectiveness of the digital economy and society and accelerating the pace of economic transformation and competitive efficiency. This is achieved through the adoption of innovative digital strategies that prioritize inclusivity and foster sustainable prosperity in the digital era. The 2030 Digital Agenda embodies an ambitious vision aimed at building a prosperous Qatari future through the comprehensive digital transformation of services.

“Our Digital Agenda 2030 provides a clear roadmap, outlining a comprehensive framework, trajectory, and specific goals. These goals include providing approximately 26,000 job opportunities by 2030, raising the competencies of professional staff in the ICT sector by 10 percent through developing advanced skills, and creating positive economic impacts that we expect to reach to nearly $11 billion in 2030.”

With an implementation plan comprising 32 strategic programs, the Digital Agenda 2030 is ready to make a tangible impact across all sectors of the national economy. It is expected that the implementation of these programs will lead to a compound annual growth rate of the actual GDP of 7.8 percent and significantly boost the contribution of the ICT sector to the gross product, potentially reaching a rate of up to 3.5 percent in non-oil GDP.

Central to the 2030 Digital Agenda is the cultivation of dynamic, forward-thinking concepts translated into tangible actions on the ground. These collaborative efforts are necessary to realize the ambitious objectives outlined in the roadmap. Consequently, the Digital Agenda 2030 emerges as a bold initiative aimed at positioning the country as a pioneering hub in digital technology, thereby achieving substantial economic and social benefits.

By 2030, Qatar envisions a comprehensive digital transformation, positioning itself as a powerful competitor in smart cities, e-governance, cybersecurity, and cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and metaverse technology. This transformative journey promises significant economic gains and solidifies Qatar’s status as a leader in digital technology on the global stage.
