Qatar pens deal on avoidance of double taxation with Estonia

The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Finance, and the Republic of Estonia, represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Information Technology, have signed an agreement in order to avoid double taxation and prevent financial evasion regarding income taxes.

The agreement was signed by HE Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, and HE Minister of Economy and Information Technology in Estonia, Tiit Riisalo.

Stressing the importance of the agreement, HE the Minister of Finance said that “it would contribute to supporting international standards of transparency through the exchange of documented financial information, noting that it comes in light of strengthening bilateral economic relations between the two countries.”

The agreement aims to conclude tax agreements that eliminate all forms of double taxation between the two countries.

Further, this agreement will enable both parties to prevent tax evasion and ensure justice and equality in the treatment of individuals This agreement also enhances trade cooperation and increases investment opportunities between governments and individuals.

Earlier this year, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah met the Defense Minister of Estonia H E Hanno Pevkur, and his accompanying delegation in order to discuss ways to strengthen their ties.

As per the reports, Qatar’s regional relations and foreign policies are characterized by the strategy of balancing and alliance building among regional and great powers.

During the meeting, they discussed topics of mutual interest and ways to reinforce and upgrade them. Senior officials from the two sides attended the meeting.
