Facebook-owned popular messaging platform WhatsApp is working on a feature that will enable users to play voice messages at variable speeds. The company currently allows you to listen to voice messages at a normal speed. This feature will assist those who wish to listen to a voice message at a much slower or faster speed.

WABetaInfo has shared screenshots of the feature, which show that users will be able to choose between three different playback options. These include 1.0X, 1.5X, and 2.0X. The feature will be activated right away, and you will not need to take any additional measures to use it. WhatsApp can add a playback speed button to every voice message you receive.

According to the source “WhatsApp would also support lower playback speeds, but they won’t be released to the public because they make less sense. This feature is under development and it will be available for both iOS and Android beta builds.”

WABetaInfo stated that the feature will be available in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp is also reportedly working on another feature called “Multi-Device Support,” which should be available in the coming months. As per the sources, it will first be available for iOS users and then for Android WhatsApp users.

WABetaInfo pointed out that “WhatsApp is developing two different kinds of Multi-Device with WhatsApp Web where you can use WhatsApp Web without your main phone to be connected to the internet. And Multi-Device with other devices where you can connect up to four different devices to your main WhatsApp account.”

Apart from that, the company is expected to introduce a feature called “Encrypted Chat Backup.” WhatsApp chats are already end-to-end encrypted but you must backup your chats using a third-party app, such as Google Drive. WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new encrypted chat backup option, which will enhance user privacy and protect accounts from hacking.
