Facebook-owned popular messaging platform, WhatsApp is reportedly launching a ‘Collections’ feature for all WhatsApp Business users, which will enable businesses to organize their catalog better and group items into categories.

The new Collections feature is available only for Business accounts around the world to make it easier for customers to shop for items using categories. Furthermore, WhatsApp is also testing a new control bar that will allow users to pause and resume videos in picture-in-picture (PiP) mode easily.

With the new feature, users will be able to create ‘collections’ to organize items in their catalogs, so customers won’t have to scroll through long lists of items to find what they’re looking for.

The Collections feature is available only for Business account users.

Users can find the new feature by tapping on the three dots icon placed in the top-right corner of a Business account, and then going to Business Tools > Catalog > Add New Collection. WhatsApp Business users can pick a name of their choice for each collection.

“We want to make WhatsApp the best way for people to shop for goods and services and for businesses to connect with their customers,” the instant messaging app said in its statement.

In 2019, WhatsApp rolled out its Catalog feature to enable businesses to showcase their products and services to potential customers who could then browse photos and view prices. The company launched its Carts feature last year to make it easier for consumers to buy multiple items from a business and for merchants to keep better track of order inquiries and manage requests.

In addition to the Collections feature, Whatsapp is reportedly testing a new control bar in picture-in-picture video. Reports suggest that the control bar will enable users to quickly pause/resume a video or open/close full-screen mode. A control bar is currently available on WhatsApp only for videos shared from select platforms, but the app is now enabling it to support all videos.
