Sheikh Hamdan in Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council reviewed and announced the results of the Dubai Government Employee Happiness Index for the year 2019.

Government Employee’s happiness was assessed through a survey conducted as part of the emirate’s government excellence program.

Dubai Statistics Centre scored the highest with a rating of 97.16 percent, followed by the Dubai Public Prosecution (93.56 percent) and the Dubai Police (91.95 percent).

The Index revealed that overall, the happiness of the city’s government employees has rated 85 percent on average. The poll looked into four main indicators of happiness, with entities averaging above 80 percent for each aspect:

  • Job loyalty (86 percent)
  • Positivity (84 percent)
  • Job satisfaction (84 percent) and
  • Functional harmony (85 percent)

“It is very encouraging to see that the highest scores in the index were achieved for the job loyalty indicator. This assures us that we are on the right track,” Sheikh Hamdan said.

“I invite all government departments to work together to achieve the goal of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create the world’s happiest work environment within Dubai government.”

Sheikh Hamdan urged the government teams to use the index as a tool to develop initiatives that could further improve their staff’s happiness levels.

The Dubai Crown Prince said the 10 departments that were ranked the lowest are expected to improve their working environments, with several procedures laid out to help them achieve the goal.

He also commissioned a new survey to evaluate the government’s progress in creating a safe and supportive workplace amid the COVID-19 situation.
