In this digital era, we are sometimes unaware of what all personal information we are sharing through the internet and one of the most significant things is protecting these data.

Each day new cybersecurity threats are emerging and securing one’s own identity in digital space has become even more challenging. One should be conscious of the aftereffects that can occur if they fail to protect their data.

IDEMIA, a France-based multinational technology company is working on new technology to safeguard the users’ digital identity which is “Augmented Identity”, a solution that aims to assure an identity that is secure, authenticated, and verifiable.

The global leader in Augmented Identity, IDEMIA works to provide an environment that gives the users to conduct their daily critical activities in the physical as well as digital space with confidence.

The India Regional President of IDEMIA, Sanjeev Shriya, says that the complete capacity of this technology is not yet revealed while both still public and private sector companies are making use of this solution.

The Augmented Identity encompasses biometrics in it as it is one of the leading facilitators in protecting digital transformation. In the current scenario, the prime function of the biometric industry is to secure identity and improve security

“In the last few years, new-age technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have expanded the width and fast-forwarded the development of augmented identity solutions making it more accurate, faster, and secured.”

The pandemic has forced the biometrics industry to switch into a more hygienic solution which means from touch-based to contactless.

When the economies get back from the pandemic and countries reopen their borders the demand for contactless biometric will increase as in the traditional method it requires more contact with surfaces touched a huge number of people.
