The Saudi Culinary Arts Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with French hospitality institution Le Cordon Bleu to establish its first institution in Saudi Arabia that will offer advanced educational programs in the culinary and hospitality sector.
The agreement intends to provide advanced academic programs by utilizing the worldwide institute’s resources and expertise. The MoU was signed by the Culinary Arts Commission CEO Ms. Mayada Badr and Mr. André Cointreau, President at Le Cordon Bleu Institute.
The new institute will offer students training in agriculture and nutrition, as well as an integrated curriculum for Saudi cuisine. The company has not yet revealed the launching date.
Saudi Arabia’s Culinary Arts Commission is one of 11 new authorities set up by the Ministry of Culture last year. Through this initiative, the Authority aims to encourage and guide Saudi chefs and anyone looking to create enterprises or restaurants.
According to the media reports, “The memorandum of understanding comes as part of the efforts made by the authority to raise the efficiency of the culinary arts sector in the kingdom, by providing international expertise to be accessible to citizens practicing culinary arts, and to attract the most prestigious culinary and hospitality academies and institutes to the kingdom.”
Further, the Saudi students will be able to enroll in exchange programs at Le Cordon Bleu institutions outside the kingdom, while international students will be able to attend the institute in Saudi Arabia.
