Qatar’s Kahramaa & QEWC renew partnership deal with Japan-based Chubu

The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), the Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC), and the Japanese firm Chubu Electric Power Company have renewed their partnership for cooperation in the electricity sector.

According to the company statement, “The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the partnership was renewed between the Qatari parties and the Japanese company during a signing ceremony held at Kahramaa headquarters.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, President of Kahramaa said that, “Our partnership with Chubu Electric Power extends for 15 years and we are pleased to continue this fruitful cooperation and valuable partnership that will benefit the Qatari electric power sector.”

“This ongoing partnership comes in the context of our continuous efforts to support the Qatari electrical infrastructure with the latest systems and modern technology means to upgrade the level of services provided and complete the process of a comprehensive digital transition to achieve global leadership at all levels for Qatar,” Mr. Al Kuwari added.

For his part, Engineer Mohammed bin Nasser Al Hajri, Managing Director and General Manager of QEWC commented that the seventh renewal of the memorandum of understanding demonstrates the strength of the relationship between QEWC and Kahramaa with Chubu.

Further, Eng. Al Hajri stressed the importance of cooperation at the level of exchanging experiences in the fields of environmental protection, safety management, and maintenance of quality, in addition to developing Qatari human resources through mutual visits between the two parties.

As per the reports, “In the coming period of the partnership between Kahramaa and Chubu, work will focus on further developing substations, as well as development and education projects in the field of human resources.” The two parties will also activate several joint projects related to safety management and customer service, in addition to works related to the pioneering smart meter project implemented by the Corporation.
