Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways has revealed its plan to hire up to 1,000 cabin crew members as travel demand rebounds with the ease in international border restrictions and as it expands operations.

Over a period of around six weeks, starting from October 11, the international recruitment days will take place in 10 different cities across the UAE, the Middle East and Europe, including Egypt, Lebanon, Russia, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.

Alongside providing candidates with comprehensive information about living in Abu Dhabi, one of the safest cities in the world, and the dynamics of working with guests at 30,000 feet, the airline will also conduct an in-depth assessment process during the recruitment.

Last year, the coronavirus pandemic brought the entire aviation industry to a halt, forcing airlines to lay off employees and ground planes. Travel demand is slowly rebounding as economies throughout the world reopen and countries lift pandemic-induced travel restrictions through faster vaccination efforts.

Etihad Airways was the first airline group in the world with all pilots and crew members have vaccinated. The airline’s vaccination initiative has solidified its status as an industry leader in terms of pandemic preparedness and ensuring the safety of its employees and passengers.

Captain Jihad Matta, head of crew performance and support at Etihad Airways said, “Etihad is in a position to be able to start hiring cabin crew again. In each of these cities, we will be looking for candidates who have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. A critical part of this is rebuilding our cabin crew team. The last 18 months have been incredibly difficult, however, there is much to be positive about as travel restrictions ease and we ramp up operations to meet growing demand.”

The selected candidates will undergo a comprehensive training program in Abu Dhabi, which includes all aspects of cabin safety and service delivery, Etihad said.

The Cabin crews are provided with tax-free income, company medical insurance, concessional travel benefits, transport, uniforms, fully furnished company accommodation in Abu Dhabi, and discounts on food and beverage and leisure activities in the fresh and vibrant surroundings of the capital of the UAE.

Etihad Airways has a fleet of 64 planes, including five freighters. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the core of Etihad’s fleet, with 39 Boeing 787-9s and 787-10s in service.
