Parkin has launched the first phase of its smart parking camera system across key locations in Dubai, introducing what it described as the region’s first curb-side parking cameras as part of efforts to enhance urban mobility and parking management in the emirate.
More than 500 curb and pole-mounted cameras are being installed in Trade Centre 1, Burj Khalifa and Al Corniche under the first phase of the rollout. In parallel, Parkin has also deployed parking lot cameras across controlled parking areas, with 200 additional cameras planned across several locations in Dubai.
The AI-enabled camera systems automatically capture vehicle images and read number plates to detect entry and exit times, calculate parking duration, enable auto-payment of fees and identify violations. The cameras are solar powered and support real-time occupancy monitoring and automated enforcement.
The rollout is aimed at improving parking availability and turnover, while reducing congestion caused by motorists searching for parking spaces, supporting Dubai’s wider smart mobility and connected transport goals. The systems will be integrated with the Parkin app, allowing customers to make automatic payments through the Parkin Wallet.
The first phase is expected to reduce the time drivers spend searching for parking, lower the risk of fines and support seamless auto-payments through the Parkin app.
Parkin stated that the initiative would contribute to smoother traffic flow and more efficient use of urban space, in line with Dubai’s smart city ambitions and efforts to improve convenience for residents and visitors.
