Oman LNG has dispatched its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment aboard the tanker Muscat LNG, marking the vessel’s first commercial voyage from the Sultanate to international markets.
The tanker, owned by Asyad Shipping, represents a new addition to Oman’s LNG export fleet and supports the country’s efforts to strengthen its LNG shipping capabilities.
Muscat LNG was recently introduced as one of the latest LNG carriers built to international standards for operational efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.
The vessel is equipped with advanced technologies, including dual-fuel propulsion systems that improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, in line with global developments in sustainable maritime transport.
The first shipment reflects Oman LNG’s continued commitment to supplying LNG to international markets while supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 to strengthen the Sultanate’s position in regional and global energy supply chains and logistics.
Hamad bin Mohammed Al Nu’mani, Chief Executive Officer of Oman LNG, said that the first shipment aboard Muscat LNG marks an important step in strengthening the Sultanate’s LNG export capabilities.
Al Nu’mani remarked that the operation reflects the company’s partnership with Asyad Shipping and the shared commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and reliable energy supplies to global markets.
Al Nu’mani added that the operation of Muscat LNG demonstrates the readiness of Oman’s integrated energy system to meet growing global energy demand while improving the efficiency and sustainability of maritime transport services.
Expanding LNG shipping capacity
Muscat LNG is the first of two LNG carriers scheduled to join Oman LNG’s industrial complex, with the second vessel expected to arrive in July.
The addition of the two carriers will strengthen national capabilities across LNG production, maritime transport, and exports. It also supports greater integration across the energy value chain by expanding national capacity in production, shipping, and global supply.
Established in 1994, Oman LNG is one of the Sultanate’s leading energy companies. The company produces and exports liquefied natural gas to international markets and contributes to economic development and the diversification of national income.
The Oman LNG Development Foundation Investment Fund holds a 10 percent stake in Muscat LNG, reflecting its focus on supporting strategic investments in the energy, logistics, and maritime transport sectors.
