Dubai Customs has stepped up operational readiness at airports and border ports ahead of the return of Hajj pilgrims and the expected surge in passenger traffic during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, aiming to ensure faster customs clearance and smooth traveller movement across Dubai.
The authority said enhanced measures have been rolled out at all customs entry points to deliver a seamless, safe and integrated travel experience for pilgrims, visitors and transit passengers arriving during the peak holiday period.
The preparations form part of Dubai Customs’ annual strategy for high-travel seasons, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a leading global hub for travel and logistics. The plan includes advanced smart solutions and digital technologies to reduce waiting times, speed up inspections and maintain high security standards.
Khaled Ahmed, Director of Passenger Operations at Dubai Customs, said that an integrated operational plan has been activated at Dubai Airports to facilitate the return of Hajj pilgrims and improve passenger flow across arrival and departure terminals. He noted that the frontline customs teams have been reinforced and smart inspection systems upgraded to enhance screening speed and efficiency during the holiday rush.
Ahmed added that Dubai Customs is coordinating closely with strategic partners and airport authorities to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for pilgrims and visitors arriving in Dubai.
Special arrangements have also been introduced for Hajj pilgrims, including dedicated routes in hand baggage inspection areas and fast-track counters operated by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security.
Dubai International Airport has allocated baggage belts near exit gates to speed up luggage collection, alongside dedicated exit gates and electronic inspection channels to ease passenger movement and minimize congestion inside customs halls.
Dubai Customs also coordinated with Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services to station paramedics at airport customs halls to respond quickly to potential medical emergencies during the busy travel period.
Ahmed said the measures are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving traveller experience, further strengthening Dubai’s position as a leading destination for travel, aviation and logistics services.
Khaled Al Muadhin, Director of Hatta Customs Management at Dubai Customs, confirmed full readiness at Hatta Border Crossing to handle increased traveler volumes during the Hajj and Eid Al-Adha period. He stated that operational and field teams are working around the clock to ensure smooth border movement, efficient customs procedures and a safe travel environment for pilgrims and visitors.
Al Muadhin added that logistical and technical support has been enhanced through increased field shift capacity and stronger coordination with relevant authorities to manage traffic flow and passenger movement efficiently during the holiday season.
Dubai Customs stated that it will continue implementing smart customs solutions and development plans to improve operational performance, accelerate procedures and enhance customer experience across all ports.
The authority spotlighted that the integrated preparations demonstrate Dubai Customs’ ability to manage peak travel seasons efficiently while supporting Dubai’s vision of delivering proactive, innovative and high-quality government services.
