Muscat Municipality has signed a contract for the implementation of the Al Nuzha Street dual carriageway project in Al Mabila South, Wilayat of A’Seeb, marking a significant step in the development of Muscat Governorate’s road infrastructure and transport network.
The project forms part of the municipality’s strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing road connectivity, improving traffic flow, and supporting the governorate’s rapid urban expansion through modern and sustainable infrastructure development.
The contract was signed today by Eng. Ahmed Said Al Amri, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, along with representatives of the contracting company responsible for executing the project.
Muscat Municipality stated that the on-site construction work is scheduled to begin during the current month. The project includes the construction of an 11-kilometre dual carriageway featuring additional traffic lanes designed to accommodate increasing vehicle volumes and improve road capacity. The scope of work also covers the development of 3.5 kilometres of service roads to provide better access to residential areas, commercial facilities, and other developments located along the route.
A key component of the project is the construction of six major intersections equipped with advanced intelligent traffic signal systems. These modern systems are expected to enhance traffic management, reduce waiting times at junctions, improve travel efficiency, and strengthen road safety for motorists and pedestrians.
The project will also incorporate an integrated stormwater drainage network comprising multi-cell box culverts, drainage channels, and roadside drainage systems. The infrastructure is designed to improve surface water management, increase the road’s resilience during adverse weather conditions, and minimize the risk of flooding.
Additionally, a modern street lighting system using energy-efficient lighting technology will be installed along the corridor, contributing to improved visibility, enhanced safety standards, and greater energy efficiency.
The Al Nuzha Street dual carriageway project by the Muscat Municipality is expected to play a vital role in supporting urban growth in Al Mabila South and surrounding areas while improving mobility and transportation infrastructure across Wilayat of A’Seeb.
