The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of the Sulatanate of Oman, in partnership with WingTech Company, has launched the DroneX summer technical program for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aimed at equipping students with practical drone technology skills and promoting innovation in the aviation sector.
Launched under the patronage of Eng. Nayef Ali Al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, and DroneX program forms part of the Authority’s efforts to develop students’ capabilities in emerging technologies, promote the safe and responsible use of drones, and prepare a new generation of skilled talent capable of keeping pace with rapid advancements in aviation and advanced technologies.
The DroneX program targets school students from Grade 9 to Grade 11, providing a comprehensive training experience that combines classroom learning with hands-on practical application.
The initiative is designed to strengthen participants’ technical skills, identify and nurture young talent during the summer vacation, and introduce students to future academic and career opportunities in the civil aviation and technology sectors.
Specialized tracks at Dronex program
The DroneX training program features three specialized tracks covering operational flight, technical maintenance, and the manufacturing, assembly, and piloting of First-Person View (FPV) drones. Through these modules, participants will gain advanced practical knowledge and industry-relevant skills in line with international best practices for UAV operations.
The DroneX program is being implemented as part of the strategic partnership between the Civil Aviation Authority and WingTech Company, underscoring their shared commitment to developing national talent, encouraging innovation, and expanding interest in modern aviation technologies.
The initiative also supports Oman Vision 2040 by contributing to the country’s goals of building a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy and preparing a future-ready workforce.
