The UAE has reinforced its commitment to becoming a leading global hub for low-emission hydrogen through high-level participation in the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition held in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Represented by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the country joined policymakers, energy experts, and industry leaders from around the world to discuss the future of hydrogen markets, sustainable energy systems, and pathways toward global decarbonization.

The UAE also participated in the International Hydrogen Trade Forum, which focused on strengthening international hydrogen trade, developing integrated supply chains, and improving cooperation between producing and importing countries.

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure stated that the UAE’s participation reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its position in the low-emission hydrogen sector in line with the National Hydrogen Strategy.

The strategy aims to establish an integrated hydrogen ecosystem covering production, transportation, storage, and utilization while supporting climate neutrality objectives, economic diversification, and long-term energy security.

During the summit, the ministry highlighted the importance of cooperation between governments, private sector companies, financial institutions, and technology providers to support the development of a sustainable and commercially viable global hydrogen economy.

The ministry also underlined the importance of aligning international, regional, and local hydrogen standards to support market growth and facilitate cross-border hydrogen trade, particularly across complex international value chains.

The UAE delegation emphasized the country’s initiatives aimed at supporting decarbonization in key sectors, including the development of policy frameworks related to sustainable aviation fuel, support for clean energy innovation, and expansion of international partnerships focused on low-emission energy solutions.

According to the ministry, the UAE continues to implement an energy transition approach based on diversification, innovation, and strategic cooperation, with a focus on supporting sustainable economic growth and expanding its role in future energy sectors.

The country has increased its focus on hydrogen and other clean energy technologies as part of broader efforts to support sustainable development goals and strengthen its participation in global energy transition initiatives.
