The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has partnered with Minor Hotels to manage and operate Sharjah Collection, its portfolio of nature and heritage-based retreats across the emirate.

The agreement was signed by Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Executive Officer of Shurooq, and Amir Golbarg, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Middle East and Africa, during a ceremony at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah in the presence of HH Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Shurooq, and William Heinecke, Founder and Chairman of Minor International.

Operations and management

Under the agreement, Minor Hotels will oversee the management and operations of Sharjah Collection’s seven hospitality retreats, which are located across the emirate’s desert, coastal, mountain, and heritage destinations.

The partnership combines Minor Hotels’ operational expertise, hospitality systems, and international distribution network with Shurooq’s destination development strategy.

The agreement strengthens operational performance, improves guest experience, and expands the international market reach of the collection while maintaining its focus on sustainable tourism and local heritage.

Minor Hotels operates more than 640 hotels and resorts across 66 countries, with brands including Anantara, Tivoli, Avani, and NH Collection.

Portfolio of seven retreats

Sharjah Collection comprises seven properties: Al Badayer Retreat, Al Faya Retreat, Kingfisher Retreat, Moon Retreat, Najd Al Meqsar, Al Rayaheen Retreat, and Nomad.

Together, the properties offer more than 150 accommodation units across desert, coastal, mountain, and heritage locations. The collection focuses on environmentally responsible tourism, cultural heritage, and nature-based visitor experiences.

HH Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi said that the partnership supports the continued development of Sharjah Collection while maintaining the characteristics that define each destination.

Al Qasimi added that the agreement will help expand the collection’s international presence while preserving its emphasis on culture, sustainability, and community.

Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer noted that the partnership represents the next phase in the development of Sharjah Collection by strengthening its operational model and commercial reach.

Al Qaseer remarked that the Minor Hotels’ experience in managing hospitality destinations will support consistent service standards across the collection while allowing Shurooq to continue focusing on destination development and long-term tourism growth.

Amir Golbarg commented that the partnership combines Minor Hotels’ operational capabilities with a hospitality portfolio that reflects Sharjah’s natural landscapes and cultural heritage.

Golbarg highlighted that the company will focus on enhancing operational performance, expanding international distribution, and supporting guest experience across the collection.

Sharjah Collection was developed by Shurooq as part of its strategy to expand tourism through nature, heritage, and cultural destinations across the emirate.
