Bahrain is gearing up to initiate Phase 3 trials of the inactivated COVID-19 vaccine from the Chinese pharmaceutical company, Sinopharm.

Ministry of Health announced that volunteers who are interested to take part in third phase trials can visit the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) which will be open for vaccination from 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM.

Through the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) approved clinical trial, chosen volunteers will be administered the inactive vaccine to study the effectiveness of antibody production and the acquired protection against the virus.

The ministry expects the trial to include up to 6,000 volunteers, over the age of 18, and volunteers who have to undergo a health assessment prior to enlisting, as per the health requirements set by the approved protocols.

Volunteers to the program can register through the National Volunteer Platform.

Chinese pharmaceutical company, Sinopharm has already initiated the phase 3 trials of its vaccine at UAE in collaboration with Abu Dhabi-based leading Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing company, G42 Healthcare.

The Ministry of Health extended thanks and appreciation to volunteers who have joined the third phase of the COVID-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial, which reflects their keenness to assume their social responsibility of protecting public health.
