Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce has launched the ‘Smart Shopping’ platform at Youth City 2030 to promote consumer awareness and responsible purchasing among young people.
The initiative is led by the ministry’s Consumer Protection Directorate and is being held as part of Youth City 2030, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in partnership with the Labor Fund (Tamkeen).
The platform has been developed in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The ministry stated that the initiative is designed to help young people understand their rights and responsibilities as consumers while providing practical knowledge to support informed purchasing decisions.
The ‘Smart Shopping’ platform includes interactive activities, competitions, and educational experiences that introduce participants to key aspects of consumer protection.
The program covers topics such as comparing products and services, understanding commercial information, and identifying genuine and misleading promotional offers.
Entisar Abdulaal, Director of Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, remarked that the ministry’s participation reflects its focus on improving consumer awareness among youth by providing practical learning opportunities.
The initiative equips participants with the knowledge needed to make informed purchasing decisions, encourage responsible consumption, and support national efforts to promote sustainable development.

According to the ministry, the program also encourages young people to participate in community initiatives while strengthening their understanding of consumer rights and responsible purchasing practices.
The ministry emphasized that its participation in Youth City 2030 is part of its ongoing consumer awareness programs to improve public understanding of consumer protection and promote informed purchasing decisions.
Through the initiative, participants will gain practical knowledge of consumer rights, product information, and purchasing practices, supporting the ministry’s objective of strengthening consumer awareness and encouraging responsible consumption in Bahrain.
