The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has signed seven agreements with national and international companies to establish and expand logistics centers at Jeddah Islamic Port and Al Khomrah, with total investments approaching $267 million (SAR 1 billion).

The agreements were signed under the patronage of Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of Mawani, in the presence of Suliman bin Khalid Almazroug, President of Mawani, and senior officials.

The projects are part of Mawani’s strategy to expand logistics infrastructure along Saudi Arabia’s western coast, enhance the operational capacity of its ports and support the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) and Saudi Vision 2030.

The initiative strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub by improving trade connectivity and supply chain efficiency.

Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser said that the launch and expansion of the logistics centers reflect the Kingdom’s continued commitment to developing the transport and logistics sector.

The minister noted that the ongoing development of Jeddah Islamic Port is central to the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, supporting economic diversification and reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s role in regional and international trade.

Al-Jasser added that the new agreements will provide advanced logistics infrastructure to support private sector growth, improve commercial logistics services, and strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a key trade gateway on the Red Sea.

Khalid Almazroug emphasized that the projects represent an important step in Mawani’s efforts to develop Saudi Arabia’s logistics ecosystem and increase the capacity of its ports to meet growing global trade demand. The new facilities would improve service efficiency, expand operational capabilities, and provide integrated logistics solutions for businesses operating in the Kingdom.

Almazroug highlighted that the projects would also contribute to job creation, improve supply chain performance, and support the expansion of commercial activities through modern logistics infrastructure.

Following the signing of the agreements, the total number of logistics centers developed by Mawani has increased to 34, including 17 at Jeddah Islamic Port, with cumulative investments exceeding $3.73 billion (SAR 14 billion).

The seven new logistics centers will occupy a combined area of more than 444,000 square meters and will provide warehousing, consolidation, and re-export services.

The facilities will include smart warehouses, integrated operating systems, and digital technologies designed to improve cargo handling efficiency, operational performance, and service reliability.

The projects are expected to create more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs while strengthening Saudi Arabia’s logistics capabilities and supporting domestic and international trade.

The logistics centers will also offer integrated storage and cargo handling services linked by inland transport networks connecting ports with logistics hubs. Specialized facilities for chemical and liquid cargo will be developed in line with international safety standards.

As part of the program, Maersk will expand its logistics center at Jeddah Islamic Port through the development of additional container yards and future expansion areas covering 60,000 square meters, backed by an investment of $10.67 million (SAR 40 million).

Mawani stated that the Al Khomrah logistics area benefits from its strategic location and connectivity to King Abdulaziz International Airport, the future Saudi Land Bridge railway corridor, and the Kingdom’s highway network, enabling faster cargo movement and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s role as a regional logistics and distribution hub.
