The Environment Protection and Development Authority of Ras Al Khaimah, EPDA-RAK, has declared the victors of the first RAK Environmental Sustainability Award 2020.
The RAK Department of Economic Development achieved the honor in the government category while Utico, Total Water Management Solutions, got the prize for the private industrial sector category.
Dr. Saif Mohammed Al Ghais, Director-General of EPDA-RAK, asserted that 14 local government entities and industrial companies had fought for the honor.
Dr. Al Ghais stated the award was introduced in support of the EPDA’s strategic aspirations linked to improving the cooperation of government sectors in environmental awareness, lessening the environmental footprint and including them in committing to elevating the level of environmental awareness categories of society.
The goals of the initiative comprise establishing the principles of sustainable development; propagating the concept of environmental culture among different sectors; fostering a sense of community environmental responsibility; initiating environmental activities targeted and recognized in the environmental field, and appreciate and support outstanding contributions in the field of environmental conservation by institutions seeking excellence and innovation.
