Etihad Airways and Fastjet Zimbabwe have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an interline partnership, a future codeshare agreement, and a frequent flyer partnership.
The collaboration formalized in Harare will improve connectivity between Zimbabwe, Abu Dhabi, and Etihad’s global network. Ticket sales under the partnership will begin on August 24, 2026.
Under the agreement, passengers traveling on Etihad Airways will be able to connect from Harare to Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, and Johannesburg on Fastjet Zimbabwe services using a single ticket. The partnership will integrate flights operated by both airlines under one ticketing system.
The collaboration supports Etihad’s planned launch of direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Harare on March 24, 2027. The new route will enable passengers to connect beyond Harare to other destinations in Zimbabwe through Fastjet Zimbabwe’s domestic network.
The aviation partnership will also provide Fastjet Zimbabwe passengers with access to Abu Dhabi and Etihad’s international network across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and other destinations.
Passengers traveling via Abu Dhabi will also be eligible for Etihad’s Abu Dhabi Stopover program, which offers up to two complimentary hotel nights.
As part of the agreement, Fastjet Zimbabwe will become the 32nd airline partner of Etihad Guest. The frequent flyer partnership will allow members to access loyalty program benefits across both airlines once it is implemented.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, said that Africa remains an important market for the airline’s network expansion and that the partnership will improve connectivity for passengers traveling within Zimbabwe through a single ticket.
Donahue Cortes, Business CEO and Country Head of Fastjet Zimbabwe, remarked that the agreement marks the start of cooperation between the two airlines and is expected to improve connectivity, expand travel options for customers, and strengthen Zimbabwe’s international air links.
Vivian Ruwuya, Chief Commercial Officer of Fastjet, commented that the partnership will enable passengers in Zimbabwe to access Etihad’s global network through Abu Dhabi on a single ticket, offering connections to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and other regions.
