King Khalid University (KKU) has ranked first nationally, second in the Arab world, and 50th globally in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) ranking of the world’s top international universities.

KKU vice president for graduate studies and scientific research Dr. Hamed bin Majdou Al-Qarni emphasized that the achievement reinforces the university’s standing in academic circles, enhances its ability to attract top talent among students and faculty, boosts international research and innovation collaboration, and contributes to the overall quality of higher education and scientific research.

Al-Qarni noted that the milestone reflects the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its growing global presence, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to position Saudi universities among the world’s leading academic institutions.

KKU general supervisor of the international rankings unit Dr. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Qahtani explained that the ranking is based on four equally weighted criteria (25 percent each): the ratio of international faculty, the number of international students, international research collaboration, and global academic reputation.

Al-Qahtani pointed out that KKU, as one of the strategic enablers of Aseer Region’s advancement and in line with the university’s Vision 2030 strategy, prioritized its global presence in international rankings. He affirmed that the accomplishment reflects the university’s distinguished practices across education, research, community service, and institutional governance.
