NMDC Infra, a wholly owned subsidiary of NMDC Group, a global leader in engineering, procurement, construction and marine dredging, has signed a strategic acquisition agreement aimed at creating a leading global player in the water sector.

According to the agreement, NMDC Infra will acquire a 51 percent stake in Lantania Aguas, the Grupo Lantania subsidiary specialising in desalination, water treatment and purification, while the Spanish group will retain the remaining 49 percent.

Upon completion of the transaction, subject to customary regulatory approvals, the company will be rebranded Lantania NMDC Water and retain its current management team.

Amid growing global water scarcity, both companies have joined forces to strengthen their shared commitment to delivering effective water solutions that address critical community needs worldwide.

Lantania NMDC Water will merge NMDC’s commercial and technical capabilities with Lantania’s expertise in desalination, wastewater treatment and water reuse, as well as large-scale industrial project experience, creating a leading global water infrastructure operator.

The newly branded company will employ over 300 professionals and carry a project backlog of more than $544.6 million (AED 2 billion), providing a strong foundation for growth.

Under a joint management structure, the business aims to enhance its technological, financial and operational capacity while expanding its presence across strategic markets including the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe and Latin America.
