The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and Jordan’s Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) have signed an agreement to establish a joint investment company with capital of $100 million (OMR38.5 million) to invest in priority sectors in both countries.
The Omani-Jordanian Investment Company will focus on sectors including communications and information technology, agriculture and food, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, energy, mining, tourism, and logistics.
The investment platform supports economic diversification, stimulates private sector activity, and creates opportunities for businesses in Oman and Jordan.
The initiative aligns with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040 and strengthens economic cooperation between Oman and Jordan through joint investments.
Focus on priority sectors
The Oman Investment Authority stated that the partnership is part of its strategy to diversify its investment portfolio across sectors and geographic markets through long-term partnerships.
Mulham bin Bashir Al Jarf, Vice President of the Oman Investment Authority, remarked that the joint company translates the leadership’s vision for stronger economic cooperation into investment projects with long-term economic and development objectives.
Al Jarf added that the partnership also promotes the authority’s economic diplomacy efforts by expanding cooperation with regional partners and directing investments towards priority sectors.
Dr. Ezz El-Din Kanakrieh, Chairman of the Jordanian Social Security Investment Fund, emphasized that the agreement reflects a shared approach to developing commercially viable investments by combining capital and institutional expertise.
Kanakrieh noted that the partnership supports the fund’s strategy of expanding its regional and international investment presence.
The agreement marks the latest addition to the Oman Investment Authority’s international investment partnership network, following similar collaborations with Qatar, Türkiye, China, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Pakistan, Spain, Azerbaijan, India, Brunei Darussalam, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.
