The Qatar Chamber has intensified its engagement with the tourism industry, as its Tourism Committee convened a key meeting bringing together representatives from travel agencies and tourism companies operating across the country.
The session was chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Thani, chairman of the Tourism Committee and member of the Qatar Chamber Board.
The meeting focused on the increasing challenges confronting the sector amid recent regional developments that have disrupted travel patterns and strained business operations.
Participants highlighted a range of pressing concerns affecting travel agencies, including the impact of widespread flight cancellations on tourism activity.
Companies also pointed to increasing financial obligations, rising operating costs, and significant pressure on cash flow. These challenges have been further compounded by stagnant revenues, creating a widening gap between expenses and income.
Industry representatives additionally flagged issues such as funds being tied up with international partners, which has further constrained liquidity and operational flexibility for many firms.
HE Sheikh Hamad underscored the Chamber’s commitment to supporting the sector by actively identifying key obstacles and conveying industry feedback to relevant authorities.
Sheikh Hamad emphasized that this consultative approach is essential to developing practical and timely solutions that can stabilize the market.
The Chairman announced the formation of a dedicated working group under the Tourism Committee. This group will be tasked with conducting a detailed assessment of the challenges facing travel companies and proposing actionable recommendations to address them.
Representatives from the travel and tourism sector welcomed the initiative, expressing appreciation for the Chamber’s proactive efforts and leadership. They noted that such engagement provides a vital platform for voicing concerns and collaborating on solutions during a period of heightened uncertainty.
