Saudi Arabia and Greece have discussed measures to expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation during the second virtual meeting of the Saudi-Hellenic Investment and Trade Committee, held under the Saudi-Hellenic Strategic Partnership Council.

The meeting was co-chaired by Majid Al-Kassabi, Saudi Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, and Takis Theodorikakos, Greece’s Minister of Development.

The discussions focused on strengthening trade relations, increasing investment cooperation, and advancing joint initiatives across priority sectors.

Al-Kassabi noted that 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Greece, highlighting the long-standing ties between the two countries.

The committee is working to strengthen bilateral trade, promote investment, and support economic cooperation through coordinated initiatives involving government entities from both sides.

Joint initiatives

The committee has completed 23 initiatives in collaboration with 16 Saudi entities. The projects cover sectors including investment, health, transportation, logistics, industry, agriculture, food, economy, foreign trade, customs, small and medium enterprises, and standards and metrology.

The Saudi side of the committee comprises 10 government entities led by the Ministry of Commerce. Participating organizations include the ministries of Environment, Water, and Agriculture; Finance; Industry and Mineral Resources; Transport and Logistic Services; Economy and Planning; Health; and Investment, as well as the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority and the Public Investment Fund.

Trade growth

Trade between Saudi Arabia and Greece has increased in recent years. Bilateral trade reached $1.7 billion in 2025, up 76 percent from $970 million in 2020.

Saudi Arabia’s exports to Greece were primarily plastics and aluminum, while Greece’s exports to Saudi Arabia were led by mineral products and pharmaceuticals.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by both countries to expand economic cooperation, facilitate trade and investment, and identify opportunities for collaboration across key sectors.
