Abu Dhabi Airports Free Zone (ADAFZ), Abu Dhabi Airports’ wholly-owned subsidiary, reported a 109 percent rise in the number of companies that registered with the Free Zone Authority in the first half of 2020 compared to the same time frame in 2019.

ADAFZ has also added two big international firms to its portfolio, SMSA Express and Honeywell. The recent success is a representation of the strong role played by ADAFZ during the current pandemic in boosting the economy of both the emirate and the country.

“ADAFZ’s excellent performance in the first half of this year demonstrates its role as a powerhouse that enables economic activity across the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Through its work, ADAFZ helps to supplement the comprehensive stimulus packages implemented by Abu Dhabi’s leadership, and ensures that international companies can continue to have a robust and reliable partner in the emirate,” said Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports.

In its 2020 bi-annual report, ADAFZ announced a 109 percent growth in licensing, highlighting that the biggest chunk of companies signing ADAFZ agreements come from the aviation, e-commerce and healthcare sectors.

It also has a strategic focus on hosting ICT (Information and Communication Technology), logistics, pharmaceutical, and consultancy management companies located in both Europe and the Middle East.
