Bahrain hosts annual Defence Working Group meeting

The Kingdom of Bahrain has hosted the annual meeting of the Defense Working Group (DWG) of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), with the participation of representatives from Bahrain, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

The meeting brought together leading defense and security officials, marking a significant step in strengthening the regional security framework.

According to the reports, the meeting was attended by Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander, and Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Defense of Bahrain; Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, Chief of the Defense Staff of the UK; and Admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of the US Central Command.

The members of the DWG welcomed the United Kingdom’s accession to the C-SIPA as a step contributing to the enhancement of joint security efforts, commending the United Kingdom’s defense and security expertise and continued commitment to achieving regional and international stability in support of the Agreement’s strategic objectives.

The meeting reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of member states to treat any external aggression or threat to the sovereignty, independence, or territorial integrity of any party as a matter of paramount concern for all others, in accordance with Article (II) of the Agreement.

As per the reports, “Emphasizing the collective responsibility outlined in the Agreement, they underscored the critical importance of joint action to address and confront any threats or hostile activities that could jeopardize regional security, stability, or international peace.”

This mutual commitment highlights the significance of a unified approach in responding to potential risks that may undermine the security and stability of the broader region and the international community.

According to the reports, Bahrain continues to play a pivotal role in fostering regional security and stability, demonstrating its commitment to the objectives of the C-SIPA agreement.

Furthermore, the discussions highlighted the role of the C-SIPA as a distinguished platform for promoting joint security and advancing regional deterrence.
