The United Arab Emirates Accountability Authority and the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Paraguay have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in oversight, governance, integrity, and anti-corruption efforts.
The MoU was signed during an official visit to Paraguay by Humaid Obaid Abushibs, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority, who held discussions with Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay, and senior officials from both sides.
During the meeting, President Peña highlighted the existing relations between the UAE and Paraguay and expressed support for expanding cooperation in areas related to good governance, transparency, institutional integrity, and efforts to combat corruption.
The MoU was signed by Humaid Obaid Abushibs and Camilo Benítez Aldana, Comptroller General of the Republic of Paraguay.
The agreement establishes a framework for exchanging expertise, knowledge, and best practices between the two institutions.
Under the agreement, both sides will cooperate in areas including audit practices, public oversight, governance frameworks, integrity systems, and anti-corruption initiatives.
The partnership is also expected to support institutional capacity building and the development of approaches to improve public sector accountability.
The UAE Accountability Authority is responsible for promoting accountability, transparency, and integrity while overseeing financial and operational activities of government entities and related organizations.
The UAE-Paraguay partnership reflects broader bilateral efforts to expand cooperation in governance, institutional development, and public sector efficiency.
The MoU provides a platform for continued coordination between the UAE and Paraguay’s oversight institutions and supports efforts to enhance transparency and accountability standards through knowledge sharing and technical cooperation.
