The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has completed a natural gas connection project in Dibba Al Hisn with a total investment of $9.5 million (AED35 million), expanding access to natural gas services across the area.
The project was implemented as part of SEWA’s efforts to develop an integrated natural gas supply network in Dibba Al Hisn, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The natural gas connection project in Dibba Al Hisn was divided into three main projects, which were carried out simultaneously. It included the construction of a natural gas pumping station operating through a virtual pipeline system, along with the development of a 46-kilometer natural gas distribution network covering Al Hay Al Shamali, Al Hay Al Gharbi, Al Hisn Island, and Al Doub neighborhoods.
The project also included internal connections for around 200 residential units and the installation of smart meters to enable direct access to natural gas services while improving consumption monitoring and measurement efficiency.
Engineer Ibrahim Al Balghouni, Director of the Natural Gas Department at SEWA, said that the project supports the authority’s strategic plans to expand clean and sustainable energy services across Sharjah. Engineer Al Balghouni added that the project was developed using advanced technologies, modern specifications, and monitoring systems to ensure safe and continuous gas supply operations.
Al Balghouni noted that the natural gas provides a reliable and cost-effective energy option compared with traditional gas cylinders, while also contributing to lower carbon emissions and supporting environmental sustainability goals.
The completion of the project strengthens Sharjah’s natural gas infrastructure and supports the delivery of efficient energy services to residential communities in Dibba Al Hisn.
