Maryam Al Ansari, the Undersecretary for National Economy at the Bahrain’s Ministry of Finance and National Economy, has emphasized that Bahrain’s remarkable economic growth over the past two decades stands as one of the Kingdom’s most significant national achievements.
This progress is part of the broader development journey of the nation, which has been guided by the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Additionally, the ongoing efforts and strategic direction provided by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, have been crucial in ensuring the Kingdom’s steady growth and prosperity.
She highlighted that official figures demonstrate the impressive growth of Bahrain’s economy, which has expanded more than fivefold since the year 2000. The country’s GDP has risen significantly, from approximately $9 billion to over $47 billion by the end of 2024.
This growth reflects consistent and steady progress across both the productive and service sectors, underscoring the strong economic development and diversification efforts over the past two decades.
Al Ansari also pointed out a significant increase in the incomes of Bahrain’s citizens, with the average monthly wages for Bahrainis in both the public and private sectors nearly doubling between 2005 and 2024. She emphasized that this improvement highlights the positive impact of government policies aimed at empowering Bahraini citizens, boosting their competitiveness, and prioritizing their involvement in employment and entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, she expressed confidence that the ongoing collaboration between the public and private sectors will continue to play a vital role in further strengthening the national economy. This partnership, she noted, will help build sustainable economic foundations, stimulate increased economic activity, and ultimately translate the nation’s growth into higher wages and broader development opportunities for all.
