The Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), led by Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Bahraini Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of Bahrain EDB, has concluded a five-day investment promotion visit to Spain and Switzerland aimed at strengthening ties with investors, business leaders, and key industry stakeholders across major European markets.
The program featured a series of high-level meetings, roundtable discussions, and networking events in Barcelona, Zurich, and Geneva, focusing on strategic sectors including financial services, manufacturing, logistics, tourism, fintech, and digital assets. The engagements were designed to showcase Bahrain’s investment ecosystem and reinforce the Kingdom’s position as a gateway to regional and global markets.
In Barcelona, Bahrain EDB held discussions with Spanish investors and business leaders, highlighting Bahrain’s extensive network of trade and economic cooperation agreements. The delegation also outlined opportunities for companies seeking to expand their presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and access wider international markets through Bahrain’s business-friendly environment.
In Switzerland, the delegation met with representatives from asset management firms, family offices, and organizations specializing in blockchain technology and digital assets. Discussions centered on Bahrain’s well-established financial services sector, wealth management ecosystem, progressive regulatory framework, and the Kingdom’s growing role as a regional hub for fintech innovation and emerging financial technologies.
Bahrain EDB also partnered with the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIG) to host meetings with Swiss business leaders, providing insights into Bahrain’s economic landscape and investment opportunities across key sectors. The visit concluded with a meeting with the World Economic Forum, where both sides explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation and potential joint initiatives.
The visit forms part of Bahrain EDB’s ongoing efforts to deepen investor engagement, foster long-term international partnerships, and promote Bahrain as a competitive destination for foreign direct investment, supporting the Kingdom’s broader economic diversification and growth objectives.
