Careem Pay, the digital payments platform within the Careem app, has expanded its remittance service to Canada and Bangladesh, allowing UAE residents to send money directly to bank accounts in both countries quickly and at competitive rates.
Careem Pay facilitates money transfers to over 35 countries, including some of the largest remittance corridors like India, Pakistan, Europe, the UK, and the Philippines.
The service offers a fast, secure way to support families and manage personal finances or investments abroad, with some transfers completed in as little as 7 seconds in 2025. Careem Plus members also enjoy exclusive rates on Careem Pay.
Customers can transfer up to $40,825 (AED 150,000) per transaction and $122,475 (AED 450,000) monthly to Canada, and up to $24,495 (AED 90,000) per transaction and $54,450 (AED 200,000) monthly to Bangladesh. Transfers are supported in Canadian Dollars (CAD) directly to any Canadian bank account, and in Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) to bank accounts in Bangladesh.
As a special launch offer for Canada transfers, new customers can receive 1 percent cashback of up to $27.25 (AED 100) on their first transfer by entering the code ‘CANADA’ when sending $544.50 (AED 2,000) or more via Careem Pay.
The UAE’s growing Canadian expat community has established Canada as an important remittance destination, with annual flows estimated at approximately $800 million.
Bangladesh is also one of the top five recipients of remittances from the UAE. In recent years, the overall market size of remittances from the UAE to Bangladesh has been estimated at approximately $3.9 billion annually, representing a critical need for millions of Bangladeshi families.
Mohammad El Saadi VP – Careem Pay
“We’re excited to extend our money transfer service to two important expat communities in the UAE. Following the expansion of our remittance corridors to over 35 countries, Canada and Bangladesh were natural next steps. From supporting families and covering school fees to managing properties and financial commitments back home, we wanted to make cross-border transfers simpler, faster, and more affordable for both Canadian and Bangladeshi expats.”
The new corridors come just in time for the holiday season, when remittances from the UAE typically surge by 20 percent. Careem Pay’s mission is to simplify financial services in the region through a comprehensive payments platform that offers seamless P2P and international transfers, bill payments, and other digital wallet services.
