DP World and the Government of the Dominican Republic have confirmed an additional investment of $100 million to expand logistics and warehousing infrastructure at the DP World Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Caucedo.

The investment was announced during the 12th World Free Zones Congress 2026 and is in addition to a previously committed $760 million under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May 2025 between DP World and the Government of the Dominican Republic. The combined investment expands port-linked logistics and warehouse capacity at Caucedo.

Infrastructure expansion at Caucedo FTZ

The latest phase of investment will support the development of additional warehouse infrastructure and increase overall logistics capacity within the Free Trade Zone.

The project intends to improve integration between port operations, free zone activities, and logistics services at the site.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs is working with DP World on the implementation of the expansion program, which is focused on supporting increased trade flows and industrial activity in the country.

Trade and economic contribution

DP World is involved in port and logistics operations in the Dominican Republic and contributes to trade activity through its Caucedo operations.

According to research by Oxford Economics, the company supports around 5,000 jobs in the country. The port handled $13.3 billion in total trade in 2024, and projections indicate potential growth in goods exports over the coming years.

Morten Johansen, Chief Operating Officer of DP World in the Americas, said that, “The Dominican Republic is increasingly central to regional trade in the Americas. This additional $100 million investment builds on our previously announced commitment, helping position Caucedo as a fully integrated logistics platform capable of supporting long-term trade and industrial growth.”
