DP World has launched Egypt’s first fully integrated Logistics Distribution Center (LDC) at Sokhna Logistics Park, strengthening the country’s logistics and supply chain capabilities.
The new facility enables international companies to access the Egyptian market while serving regional and international customers through a single distribution hub.
The launch ceremony was attended by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt; senior Egyptian government officials; and representatives of international companies.
The event also marked the first visit to Egypt by Essa Kazim, Chairman of DP World, since assuming the role. During the ceremony, DP World signed agreements with the first three international customers that will use the services of the Logistics Distribution Centre.
The facility provides an end-to-end supply chain solution covering international freight forwarding, port services at Sokhna Port, warehousing, inventory management, order fulfillment, customs facilitation, transportation coordination, and value-added services, including assembly, packaging, repackaging, labeling, and product customization.
The integrated model allows companies to manage inventory from a single location while retaining ownership of goods until final distribution. It also enables businesses to serve customers across local, regional, and international markets through one logistics platform.
Located next to Sokhna Port within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Logistics Distribution Center provides direct access to regional and international markets through one of the world’s busiest trade corridors.
Essa Kazim Chairman – DP World
“The launch of the project marks a new chapter in our long-standing partnership with this dynamic market. Egypt’s first Logistics Distribution Centre reflects our vision of creating an integrated ecosystem that connects ports, logistics, and supply chain solutions, enabling businesses to access local, regional, and international markets more efficiently. We look forward to expanding our investments in support of the Egyptian government’s vision while strengthening the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and attracting further investment.”
The first customer agreements signed at the launch reflect growing demand for integrated logistics services in Egypt.
One of the first customers is a Kenya-based tea exporter serving markets across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. The company handles around 1,000 TEUs annually into Egypt and will use the facility as a regional inventory hub to improve distribution across multiple export markets.
Another customer, a global consumer goods distributor, will use the Logistics Distribution Centre to support operations across eight markets covering Saudi Arabia, the Levant, and the Horn of Africa. Its operations will be supported through a dedicated temperature-controlled facility within Sokhna Logistics Park.
A third customer is a German multinational company specializing in fiber-optic cables and digital infrastructure solutions. The company will use the center to strengthen its distribution and re-export operations across Egypt, North Africa, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Mohammad Shihab, Executive Vice President, Egypt and Levant, DP World, remarked that, “The launch of the LDC at Sokhna Logistics Park strengthens Egypt’s trade and logistics capabilities by enabling businesses to position inventory closer to customers and serve multiple markets from a single regional hub. The integrated model improves efficiency and flexibility while reinforcing Egypt’s role as a strategic gateway connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.”
DP World stated that locating inventory and raw materials closer to manufacturing centers and end markets will reduce delivery times, improve supply chain resilience, and support business continuity. The facility will also help local industries by improving access to production materials and essential inputs.
The company has invested more than $1.4 billion in logistics infrastructure across Egypt, including the expansion and modernization of Sokhna Port, the development of Sokhna Logistics Park, and a new cold chain facility currently under development.
