Faster transits at Abu Dhabi Airport: Authorities introduce new system

A new initiative by Abu Dhabi International Airport for international transfer passengers will increase the speed of travel through the airport by 27 percentage, facilitating shorter connection times and providing passengers with a better and seamless experience.

Passengers traveling from partner airports in the US, Canada and Europe can utlilzse airport’s Fast Track Flight Connections initiative to take advantage of the new and transparent security screening processes within Abu Dhabi International Airport. Under the new procedure, the flow of passengers and luggage to their destination will be accelerated.

The proposal was developed and implemented in collaboration with the General Civil Aviation Authority, the Department of Municipalities and Transport, the General Administration of Customs, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Airports, several other international airport partners.

“The development and implementation of the new Fast Track Flight Connections initiative at Abu Dhabi International Airport comes as a part of our wider efforts to support the growth of air travel and transport in the post-pandemic era. By facilitating faster and more efficient transfers, the new procedure also further positions Abu Dhabi as a global hub, bridging the East and West.”

The 2-phase program will begin initially with Etihad Airways flights from selected destinations in Europe and North America which will greatly support Western Hemisphere airlines.

Phase 2 scheduled to operational in 2021 will include a wide range of airlines, additional destinations and new procedures for handling cargo along with passengers.

As the annual demand for air travel has increased, airports around the world have recognized the need to improve the efficiency of the process of handling passengers and luggage from one airport to another.
