The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has added a new feature to the Virtual Customer Service Center, which includes the ability to complete direct payment transactions during the virtual video call by scanning a QR code through the BenefitPay app.

The new feature is available on its corporate website for ID Card & Civil Records services, Birth & Death services, and Building & Establishment Address services.

Shaikh Sabah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, iGA Director of Identity & Population Registry, said that this new feature is an added option within iGA services provided by the virtual Customer Service Center that includes issuing, renewing, or replacing ID cards, updating civil records information, updating residential addresses, and issuing, amending, or replacing lost birth and death certificates.

The iGA director added that the aim is to support citizens and residents with difficulties in dealing with digital services to complete their transactions entirely virtually through live video communication, offering a more seamless services and convenient customer experience.

To benefit from these services, users can access the Virtual Customer Service Center through the iGA’s corporate website and book an appointment for a virtual video call with iGA customer service agent. A Microsoft Teams link is then sent to the user, enabling direct video communication with service agent to finalize the transaction.

The Virtual Customer Service Center also offers sign language support for people with hearing disabilities through direct video call with the agent on WhatsApp platform. This service is available from 8 AM to 4 PM, Sunday to Thursday, allowing users to communicate directly with customer service representatives and receive tailored assistance that meets their needs.

This enhancement reflects the iGA’s ongoing efforts to expand digital services and support Bahrain’s digital transformation, in line with directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology (MCICT).
