Jazan University has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TUM International GmbH, a subsidiary of the Technical University of Munich, to deepen collaboration in academic and research fields while advancing innovation and entrepreneurship.
The President of Jazan University, Mohammad AbuRasain, and the CEO of TUM International GmbH, Friederike Hettinger, represented their respective sides during the signing.
Jazan University is a public higher education institution in Saudi Arabia established in 2006. Located in the Jazan Region, the university serves as a key center for education, research, and community development in the Kingdom’s southwest. It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across disciplines, including medicine, engineering, science, business, humanities, and applied fields.
The MoU reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to advancing international collaboration in higher education and scientific research by fostering the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices. It also aims to establish a long-term, sustainable partnership focused on driving innovation, strengthening research capabilities, supporting entrepreneurship, and contributing to the development of a knowledge-based economy.
According to the statement, the agreement outlines collaboration across several key areas, including the development of academic and educational programs through the exchange of curricula, study plans, and teaching expertise. It also provides for the introduction of specialized programs focused on industry, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, equipping students with the skills needed to meet evolving market demands and support the knowledge economy.
The MoU underscores Jazan University’s strategic focus on expanding its international partnerships and strengthening collaboration with leading global academic institutions.
Through the agreement, the university aims to enhance its academic, research, and development capabilities, support the socio-economic priorities of the Jazan Region, and contribute to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by fostering innovation, advancing knowledge transfer, and developing future-ready talent.
