Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, also known as Madinah Airport, has won the Best Regional Airport in the Middle East for 2026 at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.
This marks the airport’s third consecutive win and fifth in six years, underscoring the consistent quality of services provided to travelers and pilgrims.
The Madinah Airport, managed and operated by Tibah Airports Operation Company, also achieved high global rankings, placing 50th among the world’s top 100 airports and fourth globally in the category of airports handling 10–20 million passengers annually.
Moreover, it received multiple awards and accreditations in 2025 and 2026, covering customer experience, work environment, services for people with disabilities, and emergency safety.
Madinah Airport’s growth in operational traffic and services
According to the statement, the operational traffic grew, with around 11.7 million passengers in 2025. During the Hajj season of 1446 AH, the Madinah Airport received nearly 720,000 pilgrims on over 1,900 flights from 53 countries, highlighting its central role in serving pilgrims and Umrah performers.
As part of service development, the airport implemented technological projects to advance digital transformation, including self-service kiosks, updated flight information systems, and improved passenger flow management, alongside smart operational solutions to enhance travel experience and operational efficiency.
The Madinah Airport is also carrying out an expansion project costing over $346 million (SAR1.3 billion) to increase capacity to 18 million passengers annually, while upgrading terminals and expanding its international route network.
The CEO of Tibah Airports Operation Company, Sofiene Abdessalem, stated that this achievement reflects the integration of efforts and continuous support from relevant authorities, emphasizing ongoing work to improve services and enhance the passenger experience, thereby solidifying the airport’s position among the region’s and the world’s leading airports.
