The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC), in collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), has announced the postponement of the official implementation of the Nutri-Mark initiative.
Initially slated for implementation in June 2025, the program will now launch in the fourth quarter of the year. The joint decision reflects the commitment of both ADQCC and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi to ensuring the successful rollout of the Nutri-Mark initiative.
By postponing the implementation, the two entities aim to provide food manufacturers, retailers, health professionals, and regulatory authorities with sufficient time to adapt their processes.
This extended timeline will support the reformulation of products and the alignment of production practices with approved health and safety standards, helping ensure the initiative’s long-term effectiveness and sustainability.
The initiative has received strong support from the industrial sector, with many companies expressing their readiness to contribute to its success and adopt its guidelines. Food industry professionals regard Nutri-Mark as a valuable tool that enhances transparency and supports innovation in product development, aligning with the rising consumer demand for healthier food options.
This postponement provides additional time to strengthen collaboration and develop effective implementation mechanisms aligned with the sector’s needs. The initiative’s organizers also received valuable feedback from partners in the healthcare sector, emphasizing the need to enhance the awareness and educational components of the initiative to ensure its clarity and impact across all segments of society.
Accordingly, the DoH and the ADQCC believe that postponing the implementation of the Nutri-Mark Initiative will significantly contribute to delivering high-quality services to consumers. This will enable the initiative to fully achieve its objectives of empowering consumers and encouraging the industry to develop products with greater nutritional value.
