Oman Shell and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) have successfully wrapped up the second edition of the Energizing New Markets program, which took place on the SQU campus.

In line with Oman’s sustainable development ambitions, the four-day program gathered promising university students from the College of Economics and Political Science and the College of Engineering for an intensive workshop designed to provide them with essential skills and industry insights.

Centered around Shell’s CAR framework – focusing on Capacity, Achievement and Relationships, the program offered participants hands-on exposure to the business side of renewables and energy transition through real-world case studies.

In the first three days, students formed diverse teams to analyze a commercial expansion challenge linked to Shell’s Powering Progress strategy. The sessions combined technical and soft skills training, while also addressing identified skillset gaps through mentorship and guided exercises led by Shell and SQU professionals and experienced facilitators.

On the last day of the program, student groups showcased their commercial business plans to a panel of Shell and SQU leaders and judges. The presentations highlighted their strategic thinking and ability to apply classroom knowledge to industry-relevant scenarios.

First introduced in 2024, the program comes as part of Shell’s broader In-Country Value (ICV) efforts to support local talent and cultivate a more sustainable, future-ready workforce.

This year, the program featured two workshops and the number of participants also expanded from 20 to 40 per batch, marking a key step forward in its reach and impact.

Furthermore, Energizing New Markets program strengthens Shell’s commitment to empowering Omani youth with essential tools and mindset to shape the future of energy landscape.
