Oman’s Ministry of Heritage & Tourism unveils ‘Al Jabal Al Akhdar Tourism Festival’

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has launched the first-of-a-kind tourism festival in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar (Green Mountain), Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah, under the name “Al Jabal Al Akhdar Tourism Festival”.

The tourism festival is scheduled to take place between 23 and 27 August 2022. It is being organized in cooperation with the Office of Governor of A’Dakhiliyah, the Office of the Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, and the “Oman on horseback” team.

The festival will include a number of entertainment and tourism activities aimed at highlighting the unique tourism components of Oman’s Al Jabal Al Akhdar area.

As per the statement, “The festival will introduce the different tourism patterns, experiences, and adventures that the visitor can have during his visit to the state, in addition to activating the promotional aspects and innovative initiatives to stimulate internal tourism and attracting different segments of visitors.”

The festival will include activities of mountain adventures for adventurous riders on horses in the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar trails. It will also be an opportunity to highlight the pomegranate season and its significance to the local community.

The Al Jabal Al Akhdar Tourism Festival comes within the agenda of the activities implemented by the ministry in cooperation with the government and private agencies.

According to the statement, “To activate the tourism development programs and in line with the directions and pillars of the Oman 2040 vision by promoting social welfare and balanced economic development for the governorates, it is distinguished by its establishment at an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level, to become an annual phenomenon in the state of Jabal Al Akhdar, which has a rich tourism dimension.”
