The Oman’s Ministry of Information, represented by the Oman News Agency (ONA), and the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday to strengthen cooperation in news and information exchange. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Shusha Global Media Forum hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Oman by Ibrahim Salim Al Salmi, Director General and Editor-in-Chief of Oman News Agency, while Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), signed on behalf of Azerbaijan.
The agreement aims to enhance media cooperation between the two national news agencies by strengthening professional partnerships in news and information exchange, serving mutual interests, and expanding media collaboration between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Under the MoU, ONA and AZERTAC will exchange news services, photographs, video content, and news bulletins in Arabic and English. The agreement also covers the exchange of technical information related to news transmission and reception, mutual use of news content in accordance with each agency’s editorial policies, and support for correspondents and representatives through necessary operational arrangements.
The memorandum also encourages cooperation in professional training programs, expert exchanges, and specialized media research. These initiatives are intended to strengthen institutional collaboration, facilitate knowledge sharing, enhance professional capabilities, and keep pace with the rapid evolution of the global media industry.
The MoU between ONA and AZERTAC reflects the shared commitment of Oman and Azerbaijan to deepen bilateral media relations, strengthen cooperation between their national media institutions, and advance partnerships that support mutual interests while adapting to the changing landscape of modern journalism and news operations.
