The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) of the State of Qatar, in collaboration with the Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), has launched the ‘Consumer School 2026’ initiative under the theme ‘Smart Consumer’ for the second consecutive year.

The Consumer School program is part of the Qatar ministry’s efforts to promote sound consumer culture and raise awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities. This year’s edition aims to engage more schools and students, promoting awareness of consumer rights, responsible buying habits, and strategies to avoid commercial fraud.

The Consumer School initiative involves 20 schools across various educational stages, providing opportunities for both boys and girls to actively participate. It includes organized student visits to the Qatar MOCI headquarters, as well as field visits to participating schools, where specially trained teams deliver engaging awareness programs, interactive presentations, and hands-on educational activities focused on consumer protection and combating commercial fraud.

The initiative is designed to instill key principles of responsible consumption, rational decision-making, and making well-informed product choices. In addition, it seeks to educate students about their rights and responsibilities as consumers, while also fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical decision-making skills that they can apply before making any purchase.

Topics covered in the Consumer School 2026 initiative include understanding the roles of consumers and providers, differentiating between goods and services, recognizing consumer rights, learning about provider obligations, and raising awareness of the various harms caused by commercial fraud.

Consumer School also provides practical guidance and demonstrates how to submit complaints efficiently through mobile applications, while using engaging, interactive educational methods such as games, competitions, group activities, and hands-on exercises to make learning both informative and enjoyable for students.
