Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has met with the Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al-Thani, who is visiting Pakistan to chair the sixth Qatar-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission on Economic, Trade, and Technical Cooperation.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed the strong fraternal relations between the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and ways to develop and advance them in various fields to achieve the aspirations of both countries in strengthening economic partnership, increasing trade exchange, and promoting investments.
Islamabad hosted the sixth session of the Qatar-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission for Economic, Trade, and Technical Cooperation, which was chaired by Minister HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani and Minister of Commerce of Pakistan Jam Kamal Khan, with the attendance and participation of a number of senior officials and representatives of the public and private sectors from both countries.
The session of Qatar-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission is held within the framework of ongoing efforts to strengthen the solid and growing bilateral relations between Qatar and Pakistan, and expand the horizons of cooperation in various fields, particularly in investment and trade, in a way that reflects the shared will to develop the strategic economic partnership between the two sides.
In his opening remarks, the Minister of Commerce and Industry emphasized the depth of the strong historical relations between Qatar and Pakistan, which enjoy special support from the leadership of both countries and are based on a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the level of bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly economic, trade, and investment to achieve common interests and serve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
His Excellency highlighted the pivotal role played by the Qatar-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission in strengthening and expanding bilateral relations. Through their joint efforts, the two countries look forward to enhancing economic integration, stimulating joint initiatives, and raising the level of trade exchange in line with the aspirations of the two brotherly countries towards comprehensive and sustainable development.
The Qatar minister called for activating the Qatar-Pakistan Businessmen Council to fulfill its desired role as an effective platform for supporting trade and investment relations and enabling the private sector to contribute to raising the level of trade exchange and developing joint projects between the two countries.

HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani also highlighted the importance of completing the final procedures for signing the Free Trade Agreement between the GCC countries and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, given the significant impact this agreement will have on enhancing trade flow, opening broader investment horizons, and developing the business environment, thus supporting the move toward establishing an integrated economic partnership.
During the Qatar-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission’s work, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly in trade and investment, infrastructure, industry, education, technology, and other vital sectors that enhance opportunities for integration and cooperation between the two sides.
The two sides agreed to expand bilateral cooperation, advance joint development, deepen economic ties, encourage mutual investment, and increase the volume of trade exchange, in a way that reflects the shared vision of both parties for a more prosperous future.
