An eight-day UAE Trade Days tour across five South American countries concluded with a renewed push to expand trade, investment and private-sector partnerships as the UAE deepens its economic engagement with the region.

The UAE economic delegation, led by UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, visited Panama, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile and Guyana as part of UAE Trade Days, reaffirming the country’s strategy to broaden its global network of economic partnerships and strengthen its position as a global trade and investment hub.

The delegation included representatives from government entities and Emirati companies operating in technology, renewable energy, agriculture, food industries, logistics, transport, mining, financial services and security solutions.

High-level meetings across five nations

The UAE Trade Days delegation held meetings with heads of state, senior government officials and economic policymakers, alongside business forums and bilateral meetings with private-sector representatives in all five countries.

Discussions focused on identifying new trade and investment opportunities, strengthening economic partnerships and expanding public-private cooperation. The UAE Trade Days visit reflects its focus on increasing its economic presence in South America, a region with significant potential in agriculture, energy, minerals, infrastructure and global supply chains.

Focus on trade, investment and market access

Talks held during UAE Trade Days centered on boosting non-oil trade, increasing bilateral investment and expanding cooperation in future-focused sectors while supporting Emirati companies seeking opportunities in Latin American markets.

The UAE delegation also participated in the Mercosur Summit in Asunción, Paraguay, attended by leaders and government representatives from member and partner countries.

The participation underscores the UAE’s efforts to deepen engagement with regional economic blocs. Non-oil bilateral trade between the UAE and Mercosur countries reached $6.2 billion in 2025, supported by investments and joint projects across the bloc.

Al Zeyoudi highlights expanding partnerships

Al Zeyoudi said the UAE continues to strengthen its global economic presence by expanding trade and investment partnerships while enabling the private sector to access high-growth markets. He stated that the South America tour highlighted the growing strength of UAE economic relations with the region and created new opportunities for cooperation in priority sectors, supporting sustainable development and shared economic growth.

The minister added that growing UAE-South America economic ties are backed by a shared vision for long-term partnerships and an expanding network of trade agreements that facilitate greater trade and investment flows.

Al Zeyoudi said the outcomes of the tour further expand the UAE’s network of trading partners and reinforce its position as a global gateway for trade and investment in line with the country’s goals of building a competitive, open and sustainable economy.

UAE Trade Days support UAE trade growth

Government and business leaders across the five countries welcomed the delegation, describing the UAE as a trusted economic partner with an increasingly important role in connecting global markets and facilitating international trade and investment.

The UAE Trade Days tour supports the UAE’s strategy to double non-oil foreign trade, expand the international footprint of national companies and increase the contribution of foreign trade to sustainable economic growth.

The outcomes of the visit are expected to generate new partnerships, deepen economic cooperation with South American countries and create additional investment opportunities for the UAE private sector.
