The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) have sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the fields of education, scientific research, and community development.
The MoU highlights both parties’ shared belief in the key role of educational institutions in elevating the quality of the economy and society.
The key areas of the collaboration include scholarships, training, the exchange of expertise, public policy, business management, information systems, national capacity building, specialized academic conferences, and community development initiatives.

“Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030 places great emphasis on the outcomes of education. Educational institutions in Qatar are producing globally competitive graduates who serve as a strong asset to the economic landscape. Accordingly, QBA, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030, is committed to supporting graduates both now and in the future by facilitating their entry into the labor market and creating wide-ranging opportunities.”
Al-Thani also highlighted how partnerships between the business community and academic and research institutions is a key to accelerating the application of research findings and development initiatives in economic and commercial sectors, thereby enhancing overall productivity in the private sector.
Additionally, QBA aims to harness the university’s educational programs and strategic research, particularly in fields such as computer science, business administration, and information systems, offered by CMU-Q as well as its renowned colleges and research centers in the United States.
Michael Trick, Dean of CMU-Q, stressed that Carnegie Mellon is committed to utilizing its research and technological capabilities to support this partnership, which will contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions aimed at enhancing productivity across the private sector.
The agreement strives to cultivate highly skilled professionals equipped for the labor market or can set up successful ventures in the digital economy, aligning with Qatar’s ambition to emerge a regional hub for innovation.
