QC Chairman unveils Qatar’s Al Warkaa-Rankoussi Factory in SME Zone

QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani inaugurates the Al Warkaa-Rankoussi Factory

Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, the Chairman of Qatar Chamber has inaugurated Qatar-based largest interior supplier Al Warkaa-Rankoussi Factory in Small and Medium Enterprises Zone.

The factory is entirely funded by Qatari investment through the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) to provide the national market with requirements from textiles, furniture, and masks.

During the opening ceremony, Sheikh Khalifa emphasized the Qatar Chamber’s constant support for SMEs and encouraged Qatar’s businessmen and investors to finance in this important sector and other industries needed for the national market.

After the inauguration, Sheikh Khalifa toured the factory where he was briefed about various categories and production processes.

Qatar Chamber Chairman noted that the Qatar SMEs sector had witnessed a remarkable development in recent years on the industrial level, indicating that the industry sector grew by 6 percent in 2020, and the number of factories amounted to 927 factories, with a total volume of investments amounting to $71.69 billion.

The contribution of the industrial sector to the GDP increased from 7.3 percent in 2020 to 8.7 percent in the first half of 2021, which confirms the success of the state’s economic diversification strategy, Sheikh Khalifa added.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Ali bin Jassim bin Ahmed Al Thani, Chairman of the Factory, stated that Al Warkaa-Rankoussi is established in partnership with Rankoussi Group for Trading and Industry to produce non-woven fabrics (Dacron), which is the primary material that is used in many industries such as furniture, mattresses, filters, and pillows.

Sheikh Ali bin Jassim stressed that it is the only factory in Qatar that manufactures these products.  The factory manufactures all home furnishings, curtains of all types, blankets, hotel supplies, facial masks, and water filters.

The Factory Chairman expressed sincere gratitude to QDB for providing financial support for the factory and Qatar Chamber for opening the factory and providing support for the national industry.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sheikh Jassim bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Thani, Sheikh Ali bin Jassim bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Thani, founder, and chairman of the factory, and Wael Rankoussi, the general manager, alongside several businessmen.
