The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) has launched a strategic partnership with CITIA, the organization that oversees the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
This collaboration aims to bolster the animation industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and enhance its visibility on the global stage.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in Jeddah by Red Sea Film Foundation chief executive Faisal Baltyuor, and CITIA chief executive Mickaël Marin.
The three-year renewable partnership aims to nurture Saudi talent and broaden opportunities for international collaboration. It will facilitate participation in the global animation film market and create platforms for professional networking and knowledge exchange.
Furthermore, the MoU includes presenting an annual program at Al-Balad cultural district in Historic Jeddah showcasing selections from the Annecy Festival, in addition to workshops and activities designed for children and families.
Starting in 2026, the initiatives will include the creation of a specialized animation committee within the Red Sea Souk, along with the implementation of training workshops and the launch of student and professional exchange programs in collaboration with CITIA’s professional development network. The partnership will also explore joint programs for production, talent development, and enhancing access to international markets.
According to the statement, the partnership will roll out key initiatives aimed at developing Saudi talent and boosting international collaboration through professional networking and knowledge exchange.
These initiatives include establishing an annual program at the Culture Square in Historic Jeddah, showcasing works from the Annecy Festival, along with workshops and family-friendly events. Additionally, training workshops and exchange programs will be implemented in collaboration with CITIA’s professional network.
